Purpose Of This Website

Information contained on this site is intended to assist associations in advertising Select Tournaments which they are hosting and to allow teams to find tournaments to enter. As such it is not meant or expected to be the full and final listing of all Select Tournaments in the province. Our goal is to be as complete a reference as possible in order to assist softball organizations, but we are limited to showing only tournaments which OSSTA member associations choose to advertise.

The typical Select Tournament involves the following:

  • one day tournament
  • guaranteed 3 games
  • round robin format
  • Championship / Consolation games
  • trophies/awards for all players up to and including Squirt
  • for Peewee/Novice, Bantam and Midget the top 3 or 4 teams get trophies/awards
  •

Each year in February / March meetings are held in or around the GTA to try to organize tournament dates that avoid conflicts (same age group on the same day or back to back days Sat-Sun). The primary reason is to avoid going head to head with another tournament and potentially negatively impacting one or both of those tournaments. If potential conflicts are present based on preliminary dates/age groups these will not be posted. The two hosts will be contacted to look to rectify the conflict by juggling dates / age groups. Only after resolving conflicts will the info be posted.

We will be looking to post additional Ontario Select Tournaments in areas outside of the GTA (approximately bounded by Belleville-Newmarket-Kitchener) in order to increase the awareness of other associations looking to host tournaments in their areas.

The OSSTA will again this year host an OSSTA Championship weekend for all divisions from Mite to Midget on in August.  Select teams from across the Province are welcome as long as the eligibilty requirements are met.

More information on the OSSTA Championship Tournaments and the OASA / OSSTA Championship Tournaments are available by clicking the link on the Championship page for each of them. These championships are listed under the OASA and OSSTA menu items.
